STORIES FROM THE STREETS #3

It's that time of the year again! The scorching, parched days are gone and now it's the season to flourish under the boggling grey clouds and to drink the greenery through the eyes.

I have always found myself astounded by the rain and thunder. As I watch the thick veil of water coming down from the heavens, I remember one of those days of my splendid school life, when, even after repeated warnings of my parents, I refused to carry the parapluie to school. And oh, what a  shiny, golden luck I have! I came back home drenched with the the Godly showers,  from tip to toe. But every bit of that small walk home is ingrained in my brain like the letters of the English alphabet.
It was possibly the very first time that I got drenched that bad. All of it started with a little drizzle and went on to become the heavy rain monster. As I made my way to home, I was caught in the wild downpour. The rain fell hard upon my face, so much so that my vision was blurred. To add to my worries, it was the thunderous rumbling of the clouds that gave me shivers. Not a soul on the street. It was a tough day, at least that is what I thought then. The only wish I had at that instant, was to reach home sound and safe. Thanks to all the "ped ke neeche khade mat hona, bijli giregi" stories :P
Also, it was the first time, I actually lived the rain. It was the first time, I was out of the comfort zone of my kitten-printed blue umbrella. It was the first time I did something that made me feel wild and free.
So much so, that I was all smiles over a light heart, when I returned home.
This might not be a remarkable feat for a lot of people out there. But this tiny adventure with the rain made me realise what getting out of your comfort zone really is!
Now when it rains, I don't go out to drench myself, instead, I watch the sky, face-up through the window, while reading bestsellers and reminiscing that beautiful day. And on one out of hundred days, when I actually go out, I do not carry the parapluie. But it never rains, like it did that day!
